Water Is Life

Make an Impact.

The global water crisis will be the central issue of this century and we’re all motivated to make a big impact. We take pride in being involved in one of the most important resource areas of our time.

Stay Challenged

Solve complex problems.

We develop innovative software solutions to help ensure that credible water information is immediately available to make better decisions about precious water resources worldwide.

Have More Fun

Work hard – play hard.

We value independent thinking, initiative, team play, relentless pursuit of quality, a playful spirit & a sense of humour. We also love cold beer, summer BBQs, fresh powder, organic fruit & Tim Horton’s.

Erin Lim, Software Development Manager

I am proud to be part of the Aquatic Informatics family.

Working at Aquatic Informatics is rewarding. As a developer, I am part of a collaborative team that interacts with customers to solve challenging problems. Together, we work hard to build quality software that contributes towards the sustainability of our planet. One of the best things about working here is how much the company cares about its employees. This is evident by the attention to detail put into creating a great work environment – a spacious, modern office location that is easily accessible, smart and talented co-workers, healthy snacks, gym passes, family-friendly parties, and Friday happy hour. I am proud to be part of the Aquatic Informatics team.

I’ve contributed to the better management of our most precious resource – water!

With every piece of work done as an application engineer at Aquatic Informatics, I know I’ve contributed a bit to the better management of our most precious resource on Earth – water. So meaningful! Sometimes even critical. There are times when our products save lives – not only human lives, but also animals. Developing green software is engaging. When I need a break after a long period of coding, I wander around our spacious office, or go to the kitchen, grab an organic pear, chat casually in front of the coffee machines with colleagues. Ding! Fully re-charged! Come and experience it for yourself. We’re hiring.

I’ve found a team and a domain that fits my ethics and work style.

After 15+ years working in tech, I’ve found at Aquatic Informatics a team and a domain that fits my ethics and work style really well. I love that our customers are scientists, trying to model complex environmental problems using our tools. It’s satisfying to work very closely with end users of our software – we have regular usability sessions where they can try out our tools and we can incorporate their input, and many customers have given our development team the chance to come out to the field with them. I have literally hiked through the bush for 15 km to gather data with a user of our software, so I had a chance to really feel how important our tools are to their work. I work with a view of the North Shore mountains and English Bay, with smart, committed people who are friendly and diverse. I love chatting with them at the monthly company lunch, or one of the seasonal parties, to learn who’s taking salsa lessons, or hand-building a Mac at home from generic parts, or learning Japanese, or playing in a band, or who else religiously commutes by bike year round. I laughed when we were on the tour of our building’s gym and change rooms, and the woman who sits behind me challenged our group to chin-up contest, which of course, she won. We’re not a kegger-every-Friday kind of workplace, but we enjoy our work and the people we do it with. The little treats (like locally-roasted organic coffee, gym and showers, fruit and snacks, weekly happy hour) and daily lunchtime companionship help make a soggy Vancouver bike commute worth the trip.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized for 3 years running by Mediacorp for being one of the best places to work in Canada. Our corporate culture is a top priority. You can see it in the way our employees care about the environment, in the way they care about each other and in the success of our customers. We’re on a quest to host the world’s environmental data, and we value independent thinking, initiative, team play, a relentless pursuit of quality, and a playful spirit.”
