Centrally Manage Your Monitoring Network Locations  |  The central concept in AQUARIUS Time-Series is a monitoring location. A location houses time series datasets, rating models, field visits, and other data as needed. Location information includes geospatial coordinate and datum details, agency ID numbers, user access rights, and attachments of files and images. Using the AQUARIUS Data Connector, location information and other data such as field visits and time series can be synchronized from an external system, if that is where they are stored and managed. Location information can also be extended as needed, adding items like phone numbers, drainage areas, or funding status.

Integrate with Data Acquisition Systems  |  There are many options for integrating AQUARIUS Time-Series with data acquisition systems. It can be deployed with many off-the-shelf telemetry systems such as Campbell Loggernet, YSI Econet, Unidata NEON, and the Sutron DCSToolkit. AQUARIUS Time-Series also works seamlessly with AQUARIUS EnviroSCADA, the most robust data acquisition software used by leading water and environmental monitoring agencies worldwide. Alternatively, you can integrate AQUARIUS Time-Series with a data acquisition system through the use of a comprehensive web services API.

Import Data Logger Files Quickly & Automatically  |  AQUARIUS Time-Series allows you to quickly upload or append data from different data logger file formats (including Sutron, PDAS, Vedas, YSI, Text, and CSV). No matter how your data is delimited or formatted, AQUARIUS Time-Series can sort through the file and ingest your data. AQUARIUS Time-Series simplifies data imports by monitoring for any new data logger files. When new data logger files arrive, AQUARIUS Time-Series automatically parses the file and appends the data to the correct time series.

Import Hydrometric Gauging Measurements  |  AQUARIUS Time-Series provides a powerful tool for ingesting hydrometric measurement data. You can easily import, visualize, and edit discrete hydrometric field data (such as benchmark level surveys, gauge height readings, area-velocity, and ADCP stream flow measurements). It supports direct import from common field computer formats including AquaCalc, Flowtracker, ADCP WinRiverII, Water Survey Canada HFC, and USGS HydroML. Data can also be hand entered from field forms as needed.

The powerful AQUARIUS Data Correction toolbox records all changes in a reversible change stack. All edits, corrections, grades, approvals, metadata, and notes are non-destructive and fully logged in the session-independent undo/redo audit track. The completeness of the audit log allows you to re-construct a time series “as of” any time in the past. This feature makes it easy for you to defend your decisions, since data can be rolled back in time to show exactly what corrections were applied at any point in history.

Track Data Quality with Grades, Qualifiers & Flags  |  AQUARIUS Time-Series also allows you to assign data grades such as “Good” or “Poor.” Grades can be imported with the data (if sensors and acquisition systems assign quality grades to data) or can be assigned manually. Grades propagate automatically through calculations and derivations, affecting the outcome of aggregations. Grades are available for reporting and displayed as small markers next to each value. The list of grades can be fully customized. Flags are used to highlight objective events or data qualifiers, such as “rate of change exceeded” or “threshold exceeded.”

Shift or Blend Your Rating Curves Easily  |  Calculating accurate river flows from a rating curve means adjusting the curve to account for changes to river controls like scour, fill, debris, ice, and plant growth. This has traditionally been time consuming, often involving re-drawing an entire curve or tweaking with least squares fitting weights. AQUARIUS Time-Series makes this easy, so you can focus on the hydrology. Shift adjustments to a rating curve can be drawn quickly. Rating shifts can be applied as constants or can be phased in through time to avoid jumps in the calculated hydrograph. Individual rating curves within the model can be blended (prorated) from one to the next for smooth transitions.

Compute Index Velocity in Real-Time  |  While stage discharge ratings are the most commonly used method to derive flow calculations, over 30% of water professionals today use the index velocity method to measure the flow of water in complex environments like backwater, tidal flow, bi-directional flow, reversing flow, small-gradients, and rapid flow. AQUARIUS Time-Series can be used to perform index velocity computations in real time with a combination of rating derivation (for stage-area) and calculated time series (for mean velocity and discharge). Applying stage-area and mean velocity ratings to incoming data automatically computes discharge.

AQUARIUS Time-Series allows users to calculate a myriad of derived statistical summary values and to have these values form a new time series. Certain data types require special treatment when it comes to data visualization. Examples of these types of data are rainfall accumulations and intensities. AQUARIUS Time-Series helps you visualize all types of data, for example, displaying raw and corrected precipitation on a single chart.

Manage Parameters, Units, Methods & Grades  |  AQUARIUS Time-Series is designed to support data management best practices. All commonly measured environmental parameters and units are built in. SI and English units can be easily converted and new parameters can be added to facilitate conversions into other parameters through integration, aggregation, or rating curve transformations. Many computed parameters, such as total runoff and maximum rainfall intensity, require special data interpolation methods. Standard interpolation types are supported, including instantaneous values, total in preceding interval, discrete values, and accumulating values. This allows you to compute data even when values are sparse or need to be extrapolated to a boundary. AQUARIUS Time-Series also tracks time zones making it easy to manage networks of stations that span time zones.
