GRSAT – Graphical Ratings and Shift Application Tool
In 2005, the USGS contracted Aquatic Informatics to customize AQUARIUS into a Graphical Rating Curve and Shift Development application which would work seamlessly with the National Water Information System (NWIS).
After the national roll-out of AQUARIUS GRSAT to all 50 USGS Water Science Centers, the USGS contracted Aquatic Informatics to broaden the functionality of GRSAT to include time series data correction.
The USGS has said that they are saving over 59,000 hours per year by using AQUARIUS.
According to the USGS, “Use of GRSAT over the past year has shown that about 8 hours of labor are saved on average each year per streamgage—a significant cost savings when applied to the national network of approximately 7,400 gages.” (USGS Fact Sheet 2007).
