Shift or Blend Your Rating Curves Easily

Calculating accurate river flows from a rating curve means adjusting the curve to account for changes to river controls like scour, fill, debris, ice, and plant growth. This has traditionally been time consuming, often involving re-drawing an entire curve or tweaking with least squares fitting weights. AQUARIUS Time-Series makes this easy, so you can focus on the hydrology. Shift adjustments to a rating curve can be drawn quickly. Rating shifts can be applied as constants or can be phased in through time to avoid jumps in the calculated hydrograph. Individual rating curves within the model can be blended (prorated) from one to the next for smooth transitions.


Compute Index Velocity in Real-Time

While stage discharge ratings are the most commonly used method to derive flow calculations, over 30% of water professionals today use the index velocity method to measure the flow of water in complex environments like backwater, tidal flow, bi-directional flow, reversing flow, small-gradients, and rapid flow. AQUARIUS Time-Series can be used to perform index velocity computations in real time with a combination of rating derivation (for stage-area) and calculated time series (for mean velocity and discharge). Applying stage-area and mean velocity ratings to incoming data automatically computes discharge.
