Vancouver, Canada, April 30, 2012 – Aquatic Informatics Inc., a global leader in providing innovative software solutions for hydrologic data management and analysis, announced today the recent addition of British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) to its rapidly growing list of customers in the hydropower industry.
“We are pleased to be working with Aquatic Informatics to help us better manage our water supply and forecasting data,” commented Stephanie Smith, Manager, Hydrology & Technical Services, BC Hydro, “AQUARIUS will enable us to provide more frequent updates to our statistical water supply forecasts, and will improve the traceability and tracking of forecast changes over our existing system.”
“BC Hydro is a leader in delivering clean energy through innovative approaches to meeting electricity demand,” said Ed Quilty, President and CEO, Aquatic Informatics, “We are proud to be working with such a forward-thinking organization and see it as a first step to an expanded relationship. Adding BC Hydro as a partner also expands our growing hydropower customer base and illustrates our position as the leading hydrologic data management and water supply forecasting solution for hydropower operations.”
BC Hydro will be using AQUARIUS in conjunction with water supply forecasting models that were developed internally. The integration of AQUARIUS into BC Hydro’s existing enterprise architecture will be implemented using AQUARIUS’s ability to integrate with OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) web services and OpenMI interfaces.
In addition to BC Hydro, AQUARIUS Software has recently been selected by other hydropower companies including Northern California Power Agency (USA), Idaho Power (USA) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (Malaysia).
AQUARIUS Software helps hydropower producers more effectively manage valuable water resources. Centralized data management, production, auditing, and powerful analytics help optimize hydropower generation while ensuring operators stay within legislated in-stream flow requirements.
Fifty years ago, British Columbians turned to BC Hydro to build the clean electricity system they count on to power B.C.'s economy, create jobs in every region, and keep the lights on. Now, BC Hydro is building again for the next 50 years. B.C. continues to grow and so has the need for more electricity. That’s why BC Hydro is building and renewing electricity infrastructure, and encouraging conservation to meet today’s needs and those of future generations. http://www.bchydro.com/.
