Aquatic Informatics Successfully Re-Certifies for Prestigious B Corporation Certification

The largest water data management company in the world continues to be counted among “best for the world.”

Vancouver, Canada – September 11, 2018 Aquatic Informatics, a global leader in organizing the world’s water data, has announced today that it has successfully re-certified its B Corporation certification. This prestigious certification is awarded by B Lab to companies that are accelerating the global culture shift to redefine success in business. Certified B Corporations use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems, while meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Lab is a nonprofit organization that recognizes companies that are not only best in the world, but also best for the world.

“We are extremely proud to maintain our B Corporation certification. It's a high bar and it reflects our progressive approach to using business as a force for good,” commented Ed Quilty, President and CEO of Aquatic Informatics. “Our purpose is to protect life with open and timely water information. Unsafe water kills 1.8 million people each year, mostly children, and thousands of species go extinct. Water is a massive problem and we are driven to solve it. Supporting our purpose, we are guided by our “3P” core values, which balance Planet, People, and Prosperity. These values govern the way we make decisions, drive our commitment to customers, motivate the ways in which we support our employees, and inspire all of our software donations and volunteer initiatives.”

Aquatic Informatics first achieved B Corporation certification in 2014 and successfully re-certified in 2016 and 2018, each time with successively higher overall scores. For each certification, Aquatic Informatics was rigorously and independently evaluated against the “B Impact Assessment.” B Lab uses this assessment to evaluate companies against five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. For each certification, B Lab also reviewed Aquatic Informatics’ day-to-day operations and business model, confirming the company’s contribution to solving the world’s most challenging environmental and social problems while also creating a positive workplace environment.

This year, Aquatic Informatics scored particularly high in areas such as employee benefits, management & worker communication, job flexibility & corporate culture, and local involvement. These achievements affirm that Aquatic Informatics is in line with the B Corporation vision of a better way to do business – creating higher quality jobs and improving the quality of life in our communities.
