Aquatic Informatics Owns the Podium at the 2010 Vancouver Canary Derby

Soapbox races raise $168,050 for early cancer detection research

Vancouver, BC, September 25, 2010 – Aquatic Informatics™ is proud to report its successful participation in the 2010 Canary Derby to benefit the Canary Foundation of Canada and early cancer detection research here in Vancouver.

On Saturday September 25th, the third annual Vancouver Canary Derby was held in Deer Lake Park, Burnaby. Vancouver technology companies were challenged to design and build the fastest, the slickest, and the most innovative soapbox car on the track.

Aquatic Informatics improved its 2009 winning car for this year’s race, and the hard work paid off. Our electric-blue car nicknamed “The Beast” once again emerged as the fastest car, allowing us to claim the Speed trophy for the second year in a row. In the Style category we claimed the silver medal with a colourful addition to The Beast: a large aquarium-trailer full of fish hand-crafted by AI staff. Aquatic Informatics and its many supporters were also awarded the bronze medal of biggest fundraisers for the event, contributing over $5100 to the Canary Foundation.

Aquatic Informatics is proud of its support of this important cause.  Our participation in the Canary Derby is another example of our strong record of community support and involvement, responsible business practices that minimize our impact on the environment and integrity in dealing with customers and stakeholders.

About the Canary Foundation

Canary Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering highly sensitive and specific markers of early stage cancer and building tests for these markers. The goal is to identify cancer through a simple blood test, isolate the disease through imaging scans and then to intervene early enough to dramatically increase the chance of a full recovery with minimal side effects.
