Flexible Data Import

Importing Data Logger Files

The Import from File toolbox allows for quick importing of many known data logger output file formats (e.g. Sutron, PDAS, Vedas, YSI, etc…). This toolbox also includes a generic text file importer.  No matter how your data is delimited, how the date and time are formatted or how unusual the output format is from a particular data logger, the Import from File toolbox can sort through the file and ingest your data.

Importing from External Databases

Data is not always in a flat file or logger format. If your data is in a relational database (e.g. MS Access) then AQUARIUS provides a tool for going directly to the data rather than making users laboriously export from a relational source into text files and then into AQUARIUS.

The Import via ODBC toolbox allows for importing data directly over an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connection.  Almost all databases have an ODBC driver, so if your data is in a database, the Import via ODBC toolbox can query it.  The toolbox provides for template SQL queries that can be initially setup by a database administrator and filled in by a scientist or technician when needed.

Digitizing Paper Charts

In addition to the methods for ingesting digital data formats, the AQUARIUS Workstation also supports digitizing data from paper chart recorders.  The Import from Digitizer toolbox supports a broad array of digitizing tablet hardware (e.g. LASICO, Summagraphics, GTCO, etc...), and supports quick key shortcuts for common tasks that need to be performed during digitizing such as accounting for pen-reversals at the edge of a chart.  Every effort has been made to increase the efficiency of converting paper charts into an AQUARIUS Time Series.
