SOFTWARE QA ANALYST

About You.

About the Opportunity.
Working closely with our development and QA teams, the Software QA Analyst ensures that software products released by AI are thoroughly tested and contain no significant regressions. You will be front and centre in the development process and release strategy.
 
In this role you will become an expert with AQUARIUS software & fluent in the terms & techniques of hydrology. You will perform & summarize functional and regression tests; develop and design test cases; create, track, & close software problem reports and validate documentation & release notes. This role works closely with the team to create & administer testing systems and advise on QA/QC.
 
Qualifications.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in computer related field or equivalent education & experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a software testing & quality control environment.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with large client/server applications.
  • Experience with Windows OS environments.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly; be resourceful & work independently in a fast paced & changing environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and manage deadlines.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Well developed problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail.
Assets.
  • Experience with virtualization (e.g. VMWare).

WATER QUALITY ANALYST/BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

About You.

You’re a Water Quality Scientist or Analyst with an extensive background in hydrology and the use of AQUARIUS Hydrometric Software (or competitive solution) and water quality databases. 

You are a water quality subject matter expert, with deep knowledge of standards and protocols for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting water quality data.  You have a successful track record developing & overseeing government water management programs and you have been responsible for partnering with governmental agencies and other parties to implement systems to measure water data and analyze water quality data.  You have experience working with US federal and state water management laws, regulations, and permits, including the US Clean Water Act.  In particular, you have more than 5 years of experience working with US EPA regulations related to stormwater and TMDLs.  

You thrive in a client facing role with responsibility for contributing to the company long range business and strategic plans.  You bring water quality experience intelligence gathering, analyzing customer needs through interaction with stakeholders, identifying & pursing partnerships, and generating sales leads.  You have significant experience in leading technical demos & training initiatives, running or responding to RFI/RFP response process, and participating in the delivery & successful implementation of hydrology software solutions.  You have a track record of working proactively with the Customer Support team, Product Management, and Marketing.

You have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or Chemistry with formal grounding in software. You have 10 + years of practical, professional experience in hydrology, water quality, and related data management systems. Your experience includes statistical analysis of water quality data (e.g. TMDL, piper trilinear, 7-day moving minimums, etc.). You are an active member in water management professional associations.  Additional experience or education in Business (Sales) and Project Management is also an asset. You bring a demonstrated track record of individual successes and effective team contributions. In a nutshell, your key strengths include: outstanding presentation skills – clear customer focus – excellent organizational skills – an understanding of IT and database technologies.

You are able and willing to travel, at times extensively (25%).

Compensation.

Salary Range $80,000-85,000

About the Opportunity.

Aquatic informatics is looking for a software project engineer to provide technical leadership on a large system development for a key customer. 

This is a senior technical role. It will involve a combination of system-level design, working with  other development team members to deliver a working system, and likely some hands-on coding along the way. This is primarily an internal-facing role, but there will also be some participation in technical discussions with customers. There will be whiteboard discussions. There will be code. It will be challenging and fun.

Qualifications.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Real experience (at least 5 years’) with large design efforts, enterprise server development, and 3-tier architecture.
  • Microsoft development expertise: Silverlight, .NET, C#, WPF, C++ and related technologies.
  • Experience with Agile and Test Driven Development
  • Ability to take a difficult problem, define the solution and make it happen.

  • Manage VM Servers and creating and maintenance of VMs.
  • Manage the provisioning of databases (updates and back-ups).
  • Accountable for disaster recovery and planning.
  • Manage off-site web servers in cooperation with marketing operations. 
  • Responsible for hardware and software procurement and inventory tracking, as well as software licensing and compliance

Qualifications.
