SOFTWARE QUALITY SPECIALIST

About You:

You are looking to do something meaningful and fulfilling with the Software QA skills you have developed over the years.  Previous roles have made you wonder if you’re actually making a difference, and you swore the next job would be different.

You’re an exceptional QA person with a keen eye for detail and a strong desire for quality.  You have tact, patience, and diplomacy in maintaining cooperative relationships and are skilled at communicating with both technical and non-technical people.

You understand the Software development process, are organized, and have a sense of humor and a thick skin. You are good at being flexible and can handle having unfinished irons in the fire.

About the opportunity:

Working closely with our development and QA teams, the Software Quality Specialist ensures that software products released by AI are thoroughly tested and contain no significant regressions. You will be front and centre in the development process and release strategy.

In this role you will become an expert with AQUARIUS software & fluent in the terms & techniques of hydrology. You will perform & summarize functional and regression tests; develop and design test cases; create, track, & close software problem reports and validate documentation & release notes. This role works closely with the team to create & administer testing systems and advise on QA/QC. You will help keep the entire company informed of overall software quality status.


Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in computer related field or equivalent education & experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a software testing & quality control environment.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with large client/server applications.
  • Experience with Windows OS environments.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly; be resourceful & work independently in a fast paced & changing environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and manage deadlines.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Well developed problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail.
Assets:
  • Experience with virtualization (e.g. VMWare).
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
  • Working knowledge of ORACLE and SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with automated testing.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Programming experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, VB etc.
  • Previous experience with hydrology &/or signal processing.
  • Ability to keep up with current trends and best practices through continuous self improvement.

SYSTEMS ANALYST

About You:

You are looking to do something meaningful and fulfilling with the Systems Analyst skills you have developed over the years. 
You have excellent knowledge of Client Server software architecture and the ability to pick things up quickly. You have an interest in what the user actually does with the software we build. You like interacting with customers as well as working with developers in system development and design. Your skills span a wide array of areas including: capturing requirements, data migration/integration, project management, systems analysis & testing, documentation & follow up. You are adaptable and flexible, skilled at communicating with both technical and non-technical people, and thrive in a dynamic environment while maintaining a quality approach to software development.

About the opportunity:

In this role you will be expected to exercise your vision and technical background to:

  • Interact with customers to learn & document requirements.
  • Analyze how a customer’s workflow maps into our software, identifying gaps, changes, and incompatibilities.
  • Create technical documents.
  • Interact with designers to understand software features and limitations.
  • Track meetings and actions, manage expectations, and create schedules.
  • Help developers during system development.
  • Perform system testing.
  • Deploy the completed system.

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent plus at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience managing data migration projects.
  • Familiarity with customer facing responsibilities and ability to learn & understand customer needs.
  • Skills and flexibility to work on a range of tasks from capturing requirements, data migration/integration, feature testing, product management, systems analysis, testing.

Aquatic informatics is looking for a strong, smart developer.  You should have excellent knowledge of Windows,  .NET and C++, as well as great versatility, excellent initiative, and good energy.

In this role you will be expected to exercise your vision and technical background to help design and build enterprise level software.  You will design and implement features, participate in our Agile development process, and interact with customers via our project management and customer support team.  You will monitor the latest trends and technologies in software and help us employ best practices and efficient processes.  And you will be part of making our company a magnet for great talent.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent.
Real experience (at least 3 years’) with large design efforts, enterprise level deployment, and 3-tier architecture.
Microsoft development expertise: Silverlight, .NET, C#, WPF, C++ and related technologies.
Whiz with Visual Studio and related development tools.
Proven results with database design and development for Oracle and SQL Server an asset.
